WILMETTE PHOTOGRAPHER CAPTURING FAMILIES IN & AROUND THE NORTHSHORE OF CHICAGO

I gave up this year. I didn’t even just phone it in like I may have done in the past. I just didn’t even try. Now this could be talking about a lot of things. It is May-vember the infamous month that all parents are filled with so many activities to keep track of it can be overwhelming. But, more specifically, this is referencing Mother’s Day. I usually love hosting Mother’s Day Photo Sessions in my little town of Wilmette. Usually hosted in my backyard, they involve a simple set up and quick in and out photos.
This Is very different than my normal photo session where I spend my time creating a memorable event out of a photo session with the whole family, but usually kid led. These last 10 minutes max and focus on mom above all.

I love these sessions usually because it gives a quick, stop in time moment that puts the focus on a portrait with mom. I don’t offer a lot of them, usually 5-6 sessions are available. That way I don’t overwhelm myself when Mother’s Day is coming up for me as well, and the dreaded May-vember. I even created a beautiful spring arch this year that would have made a wonderful background.
But, this year I didn’t even try. I seem to be not trying a lot this year. I haven’t even sent out one newsletter this year. (So if you were ever worried about me spamming you with too many emails, trust me, my emails are few and far between). I am not going to lie, post Mother’s Day, I am regretting not capturing my lovely local moms, be it Wilmette, Evanston, Libertyville. I missed seeing some repeat clients, creating art with new clients, I just missed it all.

So this is my reminder for next year to not let life get in the way. This is my poke at myself not to let anxiety rule my business for the rest of the year. And this is my shout out to you all to never be afraid to ask for the session you want even if I am not advertising it. Because sometimes I just need a kick start to remember people still want memories in photos.
