WILMETTE PHOTOGRAPHER CAPTURING FAMILIES IN & AROUND THE NORTHSHORE OF CHICAGO
MomTog… What does it mean
It is equal parts mom and photographer
It is finding a balance between my job and my family.
This is not a side gig. I have another job but nothing about photography is just on the side for me
This is not about some “extra money”. Some years I invest as much into the business as I make
This is time away from my family. That means the money I make needs to be worth that time I am away from my kids and husband.
It is not a get rich quick job. Some may go into it thinking that, but no one stays in photography thinking this is easy money.
This is time spent scouting locations. From parks in wilmette to downtown locations in Chicago, sometimes all the way up the Northshore. Weather, sunlight, bugs, all effect how and where photos can work out well. Applying for permits. Finding new locations because the weather looks bad. Rescheduling when the weather is bad. Being flexible with my time to work with other families schedules.
This is hours with other peoples families. This is late nights up editing after my children go to sleep. Hours not spent on my house or with my husband or my own mental health or binging Netflix. This is mental energy spent wondering how you feel about the art I have created.
This is missing out taking my own family photo because I am just too tired.
This is being a photographer. Nothing side, easy, or free about it. It is a labor of love. It is a drive to create. A drive to capture beauty.
Let my passion and drive and creativity be there to help you preserve your memories. Let me create a story filled with your images that made for paper and meant to be shared for years to come.
