Lifestyle Newborn Photography in Evanston, IL

I am here to tell you about what lifestyle newborn photos are. Because I know with all the photographer options and photography sessions to choose from, especially when you are already adding a lot of choices (baby carrier, car seat, diaper brand, on and on) I want to simplify your decision process.

I have written about newborn photos and how to plan timing on them before. But, I want to get more into the style of newborn photos that I love: Lifestyle and documentary. I want to document all the snuggles and yawns and feeding moments you have in those first few weeks.

Lifestyle is when your photographer comes to your home to capture your new family in their new reality. These photos are about the connection that is developing in your space that you will share together. This gives a great opportunity to capture the baby’s new space they will be growing in. We also get the chance to include siblings and pets interacting (or just watching from a far) with their new family member.

Things I do not want you to be worried about when it comes to an in-home lifestyle session is how you or your home look. The first few months of adding to a family you have enough on your plate changing. I want our session to be an hour or two of being able to relax and soak up your life. This is the moment to pause and just breathe with the family. Feed your baby when they need to be fed, change the baby when they need to be changed, and go about your soaking it all in.
