Mini sessions are here! Less photos and less time! I know don’t oversell yourself Carolyn :-P.
But, really I want to prep you as best I can. I have written past guides to prep you, but I wanted to do a refresh with new tips. New year new blog!
Sessions are back to back.
The best way to get the most out of these sessions is to plan ahead and be ready to jump in. One good way to do this, especially with younger kids, is to show up a little early. This gives you time to roll out of the car and get those pre photo jitters or cranks (if it were my kids) out.
So you know what the 20 minutes will look like, here is my run down.
I start with the full family photo. This gives the kids a chance to warm up to me while still having you by their side. I love to get some close family photos, so be prepared for me to tell you to hug one another. If this is not your thing feel free to let me know. But when I say hug, I mean HUG! Most of you do not hug with just one arm.
So maybe do a few family hugs before hand to try it out 🙂
Next, depending on how the kids are doing, I go for individual kiddo photos. This gives each kid a small break to rest their smiles. And, I round those out with an all sibling shot. I like to get siblings in close, but if this is going to end in a wrestling match, let me know a head of time and I can save these for the end!
I really really really want to get one other shot and that is of mom and dad. Try to think about the last time you had a nice photo of just you and your spouse. I know you are a family,
but it all started with the two of you.
So, how can you contribute to success in the short session?
While I would love to have an in depth planning meeting and discussion at the start of our session, minis just are not built for that. If you have questions or are unsure of what to expect, reach out to me before these sessions via text or email or messenger.
Think about what you want. I told you my main shot list, but if you have something else in mind, think about it ahead of time and let me know! Do you want Mom with all the kids, just dad and the kids, some random combo I have not thought of? Do you have a special pose in mind? I love getting action shots with people talking, interacting, tickling, hugging, jumping, etc. If one of those speaks to you or repels you – think about it, let me know.
Last time BRING BRIBES!!!! Kidding… Kinda.
We have 20 minutes to get photos you love.
Help me help you get there.
